The OS Wiki is fairly small compared to, say, Wikipedia, but we've also got much fewer people working on it. To date, most of the work has been done by a small handful of people going on wiki-binges.
I would like to encourage other people to pitch in and help get it cleaned up. Maybe it will help if we have a list of guidelines for how to keep things neat and organized.
Therefore, I'm suggesting the following:
NameSpaces
We should give pages appropriate namespaces in order to make it immediately clear what you're looking at.
For example:
Other namespaces are possible, let's use common sense and come up with a list of which ones we need.
Categorization
Always add pages to the appropriate categories, so that other people can find them. If you leave a page uncategorized, even if you link to it from other pages, it's essentially floating out in space and can be really difficult to find.
Note that categories are case sensitive, so 'OtherSpace Logs' is not the same category as 'Otherspace logs' and we need to watch out for categorization errors like that.
Listing
For things like races, skills, and items, we might have several differently-ordered lists for people to browse through. If more than one listing exists, check to make sure they match up so we avoid contradictions.
For example, the 'Races by Universe' list needs to agree with the 'Races by Availability' list about the restriction status of each races.
Templates
Many categories have InfoBoxes (which provide a shared format for basic information on characters, planets, etc), or NavBoxes (which provide links to other articles in the same categories, such as commands, or skills). Try to use these as appropriate, and keep them updated as necessary.
If you want a new template, just grab an existing one, copy it to a new page, and then edit it. That's what I do.
Portals
We should probably start trying to create some basic portals, so that we have a one-stop jumping on point for finding out information on certain topics.
For example, I'd like to have a Portal:Setting page for people looking to learn about the universe and history of Otherspace, and Portal:System for people looking into the game rules. We could also have a races portal, a hiverspace portal, or whatever... as we have people willing to work on that.
