Control Room – Svajone
The Svajone's control center is busy with the usual inhabitants. Several people are at controls, likely monitoring them, while a few other people are standing about as well. As for Mikage, the old man is observing from the center of the room for the time being, leaning on his cane to do so.
The doors to the Control Room open with a SWOOOSH, and behind them stands the Malencheer Viceroy, Narai. Escourted by several officials, he is brought in to see Mikage, who has requested his presence to discuss a peace deal. The Opodian looks around, expecting Grey, but shrugs and continues on. "I am Viceroy Narai, I have been summoned."
Grey strides casually through the entry to the control room, paws clasped behind his back, his scruffy looking jacket swaying behind him as he moves. He looks more like a used car salesman, then the CEO of a company. For the moment, he remains silent, moving to stand near Narai and the old man.
"Everyone is here, it would seem." Mikage answers as he turns towards Narai and Grey. "I did not expect such a quick reply. My apologies. I understand there is a potential crisis brewing, so I will try and avoid taking too much of your time. The Svajone Coalition is willing to offer our services to mediate the potential dispute between your claims and those of the Orion Confederacy. I believe it is possible that we may arrive at a solution that works for a great majority invested in this station."
"There is no solution to be reached. The facts speak for themselves. The Malencheer-Dusk Coalition has salvage rights to Sanctuary." The Viceroy replies, turning slightly to see Grey. "I have made an offer. What I feel is a fair offer. The Solidarity and Dusk will split control of Sanctuary, and in turn, we allow the Outversers to come, research, live, and do what they want aboard Sanctuary." He looks at Grey, "Is there anything you want to add?"
The felinoid looks at Narai for a long moment, his green eyes shining. A grin perches across Grey's muzzle, whatever he's thinking, he's obviously enjoying himself. The seriousness of his words seem a contrast to that grin. "I think we should sell it. If the Outversers want it that much, they'll pay for it. Is there no more peaceful a solution, then that of a friendly transaction?" "If you wish to sell it, that could resolve the matter." Mikage replies. "I am not here to argue facts or rights with either of you, I am concerned that there may be pointless bloodshed over this matter. I would be satisfied with the station remaining in its current possession, but others might not be, and what I offer is the potential to mitigate the costs to yourselves over this matter."
Sighing, Narai nods. "How much do you think? Twenty million credits? We split the profit down the middle?" He asks, hesitant. He would rather keep the ship, and use it.
"If there are those who would pay 20 million not to see a priceless piece of their history befall... accident, then 20 million is suitable." Grey glances around the room, before shifting his position to a more comfortable one, legs shoulder width apart, hands clasped firmly behind his back. He considers the old man. "So tell us, how exactly do claim to be able to assist?"
"I am offering to mediate the disputes over the claims upon the station. The Svajone Coalition's participation will make it so there is a neutral party." Mikage explains. "It is desirable to prevent needless bloodshed while respecting claims to property, especially without a proper international law framework in place."
Nodding, Narai thinks for a moment. "Well, take both offers to the other party. See what they want. But be warned - any attack will result in the destruction of it." He sighs, "I want a peaceful end to this as well."
A short growl bubbles up from Grey's throat. "You waste our time." He says, perhaps to Mikage, perhaps Narai. Perhaps both! "The station is ours," He motions towards Narai. "As the opodian says, attempts to take it by force will end in its destruction. Mediation is only valid if there is a real dispute as to the ownership of something, and it's quite clear to see that with a fair amount of explosives, our ownership is quite real." He snorts. "Let them come with their offers of credits."
"If mediation offends you, then perhaps I can offer a faster, more concrete process to resolve this matter." Mikage finally says. "Offer any historical artifacts and copies of data to the Outverser communities as an act of good faith, and you will appear to be virtuous in the eyes of many, weakening any stated cause for a military conflict over this station." another pause, "This, in addition to the offer to allow others to live and research on the station, will allow the Svajone to openly support the station not changing possession by agreement or force."
Scratching his muzzle, Narai looks to Grey. "I have no interest in the items onboard the ship. The ship itself is what we want." He says, pondering the offer. "What do you think?"
Mikage's words tug on Grey's grin. "It's possible, that with time we could screen a list of representative scientists that we would allow access to certain areas of the station, under guard of course, until all of this," He makes a vague motion with a grey furred paw, "Unpleasantness, with the confederacy blows over. But would you be able to tell me," There's a slight pause. "What do you think would happen were we to refuse?"
"I believe that would be sufficient. We are not asking for security to be sacrificed." Mikage says. "As to what might happen should you refuse? They may view destruction of the station as acceptable. Should this offer be acceptable, alert me to this and people will be sent with a freighter to photograph, document, and transport the items to the Keant."
This was not supposed to happen. This was supposed to be a simple salvage operation. "Do we need time to discuss this privately, Mister Grey? I think you know how I feel about this. I'd rather not destroy it. If they can take waht they want from it, and the Malencheer-Dusk alliance get use of the ship, that would be ideal. Unless they will pay the price we ask, of course."
"For 20 million you can have the whole stinking station," Grey replies, a slight snarl forming on his face. "I can't stand the smell of it myself." His gaze drifts towards Narai and the Lyiri sighs. "Of course, we'll need time to think, and consolidate our security. If you want, go to the confederacy with our offer, 20 million credits, a small price to pay for history. Or take us up on the offer yourself. We'll get back to you in regards to your own offer. Just don't hold your breath."
"Do as you will." Mikage says. "The Svajone will maintain open channels should you seek clarification on our position. Until then, if you have nothing further, I wish both of you a good day."
Nodding, Narai offers a smile. "We shall be in touch." He looks to Grey, nodding to him as well and motioning for him to follow.
Grin still gracing his feline muzzle, Grey nods to the old man, turns, shifts his gaze towards Narai, and strides back out towards the exit.
