Recently, the Idarans were able to develop FTL (faster-than-light) drives using a combination of the tech they found and their own discoveries. The Quorum of Governers pronounced an age of exploration into the galaxy. Their expansionary mindset had caught the attention of the Myini, a solitary race based on tradition and naturalism. At first, they didn't see it as an issue, but as the Idarans continued to expand, the Myini started to perceive them as a threat, as it seemed as if the Idarans would soon move into Myini territory. And so, the Myini started to attack the Idarans at the border between their two empires. The Quorum declared war on the Myini, calling them 'an inferior race of xenophobes'.

History

Ancient History

The Lush Idar Prime

Once, Idar Prime was a lush, beautiful planet full of life. Flora and fauna covered the surface, including the first stage in the evolution of the Idarans, a small, predatory lizard called 'Ignea Lacerta'. It was also populated by many huge predatory birds and quite a few species of snake-like creatures, as well as some very odd, indescribable sea beasts. There were many forests of varying types, from lush pine forests to thick jungles. Even the poles were covered with life, both microbial and sea-faring.

The Cataclysm

Thousands of years ago, there was a cataclysmic event that caused the life on Idar Prime to be all but snuffed out. The forests were destroyed, and all life that was too large or too weak to handle extreme changes ceased to exist. All that was left were the poles and the deserts, plus the caves that still dotted the landscape from place to place. This is when the rapid spread of the Idaran race began.

Ignea Lacerta

This hearty race of lizard was able to survive the extinction event. It had greater intelligence than most other animals, and it was used to the extreme environments following the cataclysm due to its natural love of harsh temperatures. After the cataclysm, Ignea Lacerta as a species began to change and spread across the lands. These lizards started to walk upright and lose their already short tails, their body shifting and changing to accommodate a different, more sophisticated anatomy. Their population increased exponentially as they spread to encompass the whole planet. They became what is known today as the Idaran race over a period of a few thousand years, making it an extremely quick evolution into sentience.

Idaran Clans

After the Idarans started to appear, clans were formed, and they began to fight over what little resources the planet had to offer. This went on for decades, but eventually and gradually, the clans created borders, dividing up the planet amongst themselves. This brought on a time of uneasy peace, during which the technological and sociological advancement of the Idaran people spiked, many cities popped up seemingly overnight, and a capital was built, called Dal Sempora. This coastal city acted as a neutral ground for the clans, and over time, a central government took shape within the city, ruling over the clans in an almost state-like fashion.

Modern History

Reaching for the Stars

The real change came when an object of unknown origin crashed into the planet. It turned out to be a ship. While none of the crew survived, the Idaran took the ship and attempted to reverse engineer the ship. Over the course of the next hundred years, new technology would slowly emerge. Beam weapons, advanced communications, faster ground based travel, and so forth. It took some time for them to crack the secret of space travel. When they did eventually start their space travel programs, they chose to set up an outpost on a fair sized habitable moon called "Idar Minor", which became their primary source of food and raw materials. The Idarans always knew that there were other intelligent, space faring civilizations, however, so they started to build an armada using the new tech they found. Soon, they had a sizable defense fleet, but were still unable to leave their home system.

The Idar-Circe War

Recently, the Idarans were able to develop FTL (faster-than-light) drives using a combination of the tech they found and their own scientific advancements.
