Akamatsu is sitting in a corner table as he usually does when he is waiting for the evening crowd for drinking partners.
Hjasne walks into the tavern, PDA in hand, and takes a seat at a corner table with a view of the pub entrance.
Akamatsu notices Hjasne walk in with his PDA and instantly furrows his brow. He regains his calm look in amatter of a few seconds but you can probably still tell he has no love at all for this newcomer.
Hjasne glances toward Akamatsu. He nods his horned head in acknowledgement of the time-tossed Japanese warrior, then resumes his perusal of the PDA display.
Akamatsu nods a bit grudgingly back towards Hjasne and starts to get up but thinks better of it quickly slowly sitting back down and taking a large drink from his jug.
Nark Brogainn appears in the doorway, moving rather slowly as he uses his staff to move himself forward into the tavern proper. His eyes take in the room briefly, with perhaps a hint of confusion in his face as he does, but it passes and he heads to find himself a table to sit at.
Akamatsu nods in gretting to the new arrival in Nark. He proceeds to eye Hjasne with an intense dislike.
“No, Jack, you ain’t got the shoulders right f’r ringing bells,” comes a brusque voice from outside the tavern, “I see you more of a ‘angin’ from your boots cleanin’ t’ masonry fella.” Rillitan moves through into the bar with an escort of two, Jack and Roland. All three of them wear Olympus security outfits though they are not worn in a tidy fashion.
“So what’d you be, boss? Some belliger’nt nobleman saddled with the woes of choosing whose bosoms to engage? Or per’aps a kindly Knight led by his code of honour to save poor wenches and strike down the misaligned?” snarks Jack, with a chuckle.
“More likely to be misaligned.” Ronald adds, “Rillitan is obviously touched by the /shadow/. How else could he convince us to work so many hours?”
Nark Brogainn offers Hjasne a nod as he finds a table to sit at, sitting rather carefully and looking fairly comfortable once he is off his feet. The staff remains gripped in his hand, however, standing beside him. His eyes, however, move quickly to the crew which has just entered, his ears twitching in the direction of their voices.
One typically doesn’t see Garvi in these parts, but it seems an exception has been made this evening. Why? Well, that much makes itself clear shortly after the wolfish Llivori enters the establishment. Food. He orders up a meal consisting mostly of meat. /Then/ the Captain stops to sniff the air and see who’s about.
Hjasne grunts as he observes the arrival of the Llivori captain. He slides his chair back, stands, and approaches Garviel. “Captain. A few questions, if you please.”
Akamatsu sees Garviel arrive and knows he is about to be interrogated as well so he stands and goes to his captain giving him a salute and saying “Hello captain.” When Hjasne asks for a few questions he stands next to Garvi in an almost protective stance intending to be present for this one.
Nark Brogainn watches this exchange with a bit of interest, shifting in his seat to get a good look. The tone of the situation does make his hair on his back raise slightly.
“Weren’t for those extra hours you wouldn’t be gettin’ drinks tonight, so quit flappin’ else I’ll find something special to put in yer glasses.” Rillitan retorts, pausing a few steps into the bar and looking around, “Either o’ you two seen my darlin’ miss boss?”
“Miss Boss, Mr Boss? No idea. Pretty girl probably ran off for lookin’ for a real man like me.” Jack chimes, with a guffaw only granted to those with sufficient waistline prerequisites.
“You’re a man? Here I was thinking you were just a beanbag with a mouth.” Ronald quips.
Garviel does pause to return the salute to Akamatsu before he turns to Hjasne. He sniffs inquisitively as he looks at the approaching Hekayti, “I can sparre some time, misterr…?” he trails in his customary low growl of a voice. A further glance is given towards Akamatsu at his defensiveness, but nothing said.
“Hjasne,” the Hekayti replies. “I am leading the investigation into the hacking of the Ashkodt Emergents.” He seems unmoved by Akamatsu’s suspicious behavior. Instead, he holds up the PDA so that Garviel can see the display, which shows an image of Akamatsu pouring a drink into the open mouth of a Gankri that has its head in Akamatsu’s lap in a shuttle seat. “Do you recognize the Gankri pictured with your subordinate?”
Akamatsu looks to Garviel saying “If you haven’t figured it out yet sir this is the man who is accusing the Confederacy of terrorism.”
Nark Brogainn listens carefully to the exchange, but it isn’t long until a young Pyracani child, perhaps 12 years of age, appears at the door and heads towards him. “Grandfather.. I have been looking everywhere!” she says in a panic. “Come, the pack is worried about you.”
Nark looks at the child, the confusion from earlier returning. “Oh.. this is not the ship?” he says, taking another look around. “I thought the family looked rather odd…” This elicits a sigh from the child.
“Looks like we stepped into something dramatic, boys.” Rillitan comments, glancing across to Akamatsu, Garviel and Hjasne as he makes a passing run at the bar itself.
“Woof woof!” Manages a slightly delayed Jack, grinning across to the pair of Pyracani, “This ain’t no place for the family, ol’ timer, it’s happy hour!”
“There isn’t a happy hour in the Last Orders, you tit farm.” Ronald grunts.
“There’s beer, I’m happy!” Jack chortles again, giving a high sigh before a distinct look of displeasure washes over his features. “Seriously, though, beer. Rillitan. Beer! Beer?”
Garviel takes a look at the PDA, looking at it for a moment before shaking his head, “I’ve neverr seen him beforre, no,” the Llivori’s ears flatten, and the fangs normally hidden under his muzzle are barred as he turns to just /look/ at Akamatsu, a very low growl eminating from the back of his throat. When that reply is over, he looks back to Hjasne, “I would, howeverr, be verry interrested to hearr just what you have to say rregarrding my suborrdinate.”
“I am currently trying to determine what role he might have played as an accomplice to this Gankri, who we currently have in custody,” Hjasne replies to Garviel. “The investigation thus far suggests that this might have been a plot coordinated by parties aboard Comorro Station. I am hoping to remove the Orion Confederacy’s leadership from suspicion. It is possible that your subordinate acted alone in conjunction with the Gankri, but the Grand Moot feels that more intelligence and resources would likely be required to successfully accomplish this act. They find it rather disconcerting that a drunken Gankri and a hapless Outverser could manage it.”
Akamatsu is a bit surprised by garviel’s response but keeps his composure. He then turns to Hjasne upon his response and simply glares and says in as civil a tone as he can when talking to somebody accusing him of terrorism “Oh so you’ve managed to find complete proof I was involved at all?” He then turns to Garvi and states “I would like to explain my side of things once he has finished with his questions.”
Nark Brogainn slowly rises to his feet, pulling himself up with the aid of his staff. Once standing, his granddaughter takes a good firm grip on her elder’s left paw. “Come grandfather, it is time for you to eat.” she says as she starts to lead Nark towards the exit, guiding him as best she can as his attention wanders to the various patrons about the bar, but the mention of food brings him back to reality for a moment.
“Ah, is it more of that wonderful stew? I did so enjoy it..” he says gleefully. “Yes, grandfather, all you can eat… let’s get back to the ship first..” she says, and the pair start to head off.
“Yeh.” Rillitan manages, without looking back at Jack, “Two beers.” he throws out to the bartender while the other two settle themselves at a table near enough to the bar in a cunning legwork avoidance technique.
“…two /beers/? Just, uh, any beer? You know people don’t just order ‘beer’ right?” the barman frowns.
“Whatever doesn’t kill them pal, I don’t care.” Rillitan mutters.
“Two beers then.” the barman intones, moving off to get the order and shaking his head.
Garviel nods, “I can assurre both mine, and all of my suborrdinates complete cooperration with yourr investigation, and while I can not speak forr them, I’m surre the rrest of the Confederracy’s leaderrship will agrree. Whateverr you need, so long as it perrtains to yourr investigation, is yourrs. With the underrstanding, of courrse, that whateverr prroof is brrought to light will be sharred with the Confederracy.” at which point the Llivori turns to Akamatsu, “Yourr statement will be taken, Spacerr,” he growls, and then it’s radio time, “This is Captain Fairrskinned, I need a securrity detail. Last Orrderrs taverrn. Thank you, Lieutenant.”
“Very well,” Hjasne says to the Llivori captain. “Your cooperation is most welcome. I will leave you to your business, but I may call upon you again soon.” He turns to favor Akamatsu with a brief smile, and then he starts walking toward the exit.
Akamatsu tries in vain to smile back to Hjasne but settles for a nod in his direction. he then turns to Garviel and asks “Will my statement be taken now?”
Rillitan waits at the bar and the barkeeper pours out two pints with practiced ease. The Timonae asks, “Ok t’ keep a tab?” with a sniff. His convoy murmur and joke, as you might expect.
Garviel nods, “I will be of serrvice when I can. I’ll instrruct my suborrdinates to help you furrtherr yourr investigation,” he states. Then he looks back to Akamatsu, “That is going to be the subject of this investigation, but I’m willing to listen while we wait forr securrity to get herre.”
