You will need certain tools and materials to build a house or building. You can see what you need by using the +items Architecture command. This will show you sections for houses, apartments, or starships. Each has subcategories that include the different kinds of items in that catagory that can be built. As an example let’s look at houses, so we would select +items Architecture/Houses and we would see:
Average House Large House Large Subdivision Medium Subdivision Modest House Small Subdivision
You can then use the +consider command to see what each requires to build it and what you would get from it. As an example let’s look at a modest house, with the +consider Modest House command you would see:
A small two-bedroom house with a living room/kitchen, bathroom, and front yard. Designers, please use +desc to give this your own spin. May be redeemed for a five-room home on the grid.

Each of the required materials can be looked at further with the +consider command to see how to make or find it or you can buy it from someone else. Sometimes you can find tools for sale in shops such as can be found on Comorro. Once you have built the item you will want to use the +desc command to describe each room for the building. For a starship you will need to build every room that will go in that ship up to the maximum for that hull type and describe it. The same is true for apartments. Once you have completed the item and all of the rooms you will need to do a +str to request that they be put on the grid and then, if approved, you will be told to spend some extra SP and actual IC money to simulate going into production.
