Damage is recorded as injuries or wounds. Each wound represents a single source of damage - for example, a bruise, a stab or a gunshot wound.

The Severity is how bad the wound is. Each wound has a numerical value between 1 and 15. Depending on the amount of damage, a wound falls into one of 5 categories.

  • 1-5 damage is a Light wound.
  • 6-8 damage is a Moderate wound.
  • 9-11 damage is a Serious wound.
  • 12-14 damage is a Critical wound.
  • 15+ damage is a Lethal wound.

By default, a character can sustain 3 Light wounds, 2 Moderate wounds, 2 Serious wounds, 1 Critical wound, and 1 Lethal wound. Any wounds over this number will spill over into the next-highest category, so a character with 6 light wounds will treat the 6th as being a Moderate wound.

An injured character takes penalties based on the most severe wound they've taken.

  • A Lightly wounded character has no penalty.
  • A Moderately wounded character has a -1 penalty to all rolls.
  • A Seriously wounded character has a -2 penalty to all rolls.
  • A Critically wounded character has a -3 penalty to all rolls.
  • A Lethally wounded character has a -4 penalty to all rolls.

If a Staffer determines it to be appropriate, a Critically wounded character could be unconscious or incapacitated, while a Lethally wounded character could die if they don't receive immediate medical treatment.
