Sivad Activates PHS Volunteers
Posted By: Aeolus Article: JUL06-1 Reported To: SBS Reported On: Sivad Reported At: Sun Jul 02 12:41:10 2006 /Grand Enaj, Sivad/ The Sivadian Ministry of Health is canvassing reserve members of the Public Health Service, seeking volunteers for a mission that has been described as secret, but "of a humanitarian and military support nature."The Ministry of Health has made clear that the mission the volunteers will be on is expected to be dangerous, and that they are especially interested in personnel with experience in field and naval medicine. Potential volunteers are requested to contact the Ministry.The Public Health Service is a uniformed agency of the Ministry of Health, and is responsible for disaster response, disease prevention, and other humanitarian duties. While it does maintain a cadre of full-time officers, the majority of the PHS is made up of reserve officers, who are activated for emergencies only. La Terre calls for elections

Delays are only to be expected given the facts. This, at least, is the explanation the current La Terran government is offering to apologize for delays in the electoral process which was scheduled for May."Things have been hectic. With the Nall and the True Defenders, among other things, the government has had to accomodate the needs of the people and this has, of course, required certain sacrifices," Joshua Panini, the current Minister of Public Affairs, told INN. "Now that things are calm, we can carry on appropriately."A new government is expected to be chosen by the end of this month, in order to take power sometime in August. Several parties have already been pushing for their candidates since late last year. Polls show a notable lack of satisfaction with the departing government, which leads political analysts to speculate about a rise by the opposition, which advertises non-xenophobic views.

As the day advanced, it was clear that the former leader of the La Terre Defense Force, General Johanne Bryce, would be the winner.Bryce is best known for the part he took in the True Defenders investigations last year. He retired five months ago and announced he would be running for Office, boasting policies that favored rights for all alien races.Governor Johanne Bryce is expected to assume mandate over the planet of La Terre sometime next month.
