Rather abandoned looking and lacking much activity, there is little about the beach today that is of note, well except for the circle in the sand and the woman standing within it. Beside the circle is a crisply folded leather jacket with a flat cap on top next to a small cooler. Vessa stretches carefully, the light sheen of sweat upon her brow indicates a bit of a warmup has already been done. Maina steps into the circle, shifting her weight awkwardly. She's still in her black dress, same as ever. "You, um... sure you want to do this?" Vessa Harden smiles at Maina, "Well I trust you not to try to kill me or do anything permanent. Just take it easy on me and lets see what we see. I figure we both start out aiming for less dangerous spots and get a feel for skill and the differences then move from there." she finishes her stretches then gets into a ready stance, "Let's dance." [Skill System] Vessa Harden tests her Lightning Reflexes trait. The level is 1. Maina gives a nod, starting to make a motion as if to attack, but she isn't fast enough to get the first blow. Vessa Harden notes the direction of the seemingly intended blow and ducks low throwing a test punch for the shoulder. [Skill System] Vessa Harden tests her Unarmed + Striking at a modifier of 0. The result is 15.

[Skill System] Maina tests her Phasing trait. The level is 1. [Skill System] Maina tests her Psionics + Psychoportation at a modifier of 0. The result is 15. Maina goes wide-eyed at the punch, and she seems to go slightly transparent. The punch goes right through her. She steps back out of the range of the punch, making a vague gesture as Vessa feels immense pressure to be unable to move. [Skill System] Maina tests her Immobilize trait. The level is 1. [Skill System] Maina tests her Psionics + Telekinetics at a modifier of 0. The result is 12. [Skill System] Vessa Harden tests her Strength skill at a modifier of 0. The result is 5. Vessa Harden is now doing a great imitation of a statue, she would probably be making some really odd faces if she was able at this point though. [Skill System] Maina tests her Manifestation trait. The level is 1. [Skill System] Maina tests her Psionics + Psychokinesis at a modifier of 0. The result is 6. Maina gestures again, and a copy of her in a leather action-hero outfit, wielding a sword fades into view. It's holding a sword to Vessa's neck, "Do I win?"

Vessa Harden tries very hard not to laugh, though she does grin widely. "That is probably the least painful loss I have had on a spar," she looks like she would be shrugging if she could, "Sure, you win." Maina nods a little, smiling as she stands and dusts herself off, though she doesn't need to. Vessa is released and Action Maina fades away. "That wasn't so bad, actually." She grins. Vessa Harden nods quite happily but frowns a moment, "Thing is that that immobilize thing is a very powerful tool, if that were a real fight I would have been done for. Well done by the way." Maina nods a little, "I've practiced it a lot. Some people, like, um, Willow, can block my powers. There are also machines that can do it. They hurt a lot, since I'm kind of made of it." Vessa Harden nods thoughtfully, "Is there a way to have a mechanical version of being able to block it without causing you discomfort? Like a psychic mental shield or something?" Maina shrugs a little, "I really don't know. I haven't looked into it for, um... obvious reasons." Vessa Harden smiles and nods, "Oh yeah, I wouldn't figure you would. I wonder if Ms. Hall would know. That would be a useful thing to have. I trust you but I don't like the idea of being so vulnerable to that kind of attack." Maina wrinkles her nose, "Leu's lab is the first place I found the mechanical version. I started to walk in and about died." Vessa Harden looks worried, "Eh? That isn't good. Shouldn't there be a warning at the door or something for that kind of thing?" Maina shrugs again, "I don't think most people have to worry about it." Vessa Harden begins to pick up her jacket and hat, putting them on as she tries to consider how to answer, "I mentioned how I am not a fan of drugs right? Same is true for this whole psychic thing, there is too much opportunity for someone to take me out either by knocking me out, which has already happened, or as you just did, immobilize me." she shakes her head, "I don't like that loss of control of the situation. As I said, I trust you not to do something like that but someone else?" she shakes her head again, "No thanks, too risky." Maina shrugs a bit, "You don't need powers to immobilize someone. And I don't think I could knock you out with my mind. Not yet, anyway." Vessa Harden nods, "That is true but if you can immobilize someone with your mind, it is far more efficient then say, knocking them over and tying them up. Not only that but they would be able to move while you did the latter and you would have to be able to tie them properly. But that is neither here nor there. It is really more a matter of something I think I will look into. I am still impressed though, that was a rather fun experience and you won without having to do any damage." Maina nods a little, "That's how I like it, you know that. I prefer it if people can be, you know... not hurt." Vessa Harden nods again, "Of course, I would say that what you can do is perfectly suited to that as well as immobilizing patients who are having seizures or something similar so they are not hurt." she nods once more, "Thank you for the fun spar Maina." she says with a smile Maina smiles a bit, "Sure... glad you had fun." Vessa Harden grins then has a thought, "There is a new person, bumped into me introduced themselves then went a bit uh odd. I think she might be one of you Riftwalkers though maybe not. She looks like a fairy. Did you want to come see if she might need some help?" Maina shrugs a bit, "Um... sure? Maybe she won't be utterly mad like the rest." Maina begins following you. Stretching for a little under ten miles as it wraps around the northeast edge of the island, this pink sand beach is not the perfectly-combed creation that make Mesomel's beaches famous. Everything from beach glass to shells to washed-up logs to strands of rotting seaweed litter the beach at times, though large swaths of beach near the city are being maintained by the residents. A few small fused sand buildings have been put together just back from the water, with some lived-in, and others just occupied from time to time. Small boats can be seen a little ways out in the warm, teal water for much of the day with Outversers either relaxing or fishing for their suppers. A fused sand path leads southeast to the Outverser settlement, and the beach continues to the west.

Maina arrives from Western Settlement. Maina has arrived. Vessa Harden indicates Neoni, "There she is, she has kinda been floating like that since before I left." Maina gives a little nod, looking at Neoni from a slight distance. Vessa Harden eyes Neoni a bit and leans closer to Maina, "Friendly girl, at least she seemed like it to me but do riftwalkers, or is she something else? Anyway, do they have strokes or anything?" she tries to keep her voice low so as not to offend the subject of the conversation. Maina eyes her a bit, "I wouldn't be surprised, but I can't really tell just by looking. I don't think we can, though. We don't, um... dont' have brains." Vessa Harden nods a bit but seems to ponder, "Well, you guys are made of energy though right?" she seems less than certain on this point. "So, what if she had a, er, disruption in the flow of something. Like energy constipation?" Maina wrinkles her nose, "I don't think it works that way, but maybe." Vessa Harden looks thoughtful, "Maybe she is stuck. Maybe she was midway to that phasing trick you guys do and just got stuck midway." she peers at Neoni a bit closer but doesn't poke her even though she looks like she really wants to. "If we pick her up and shake her do you think she would reboot?" Maina rolls her eyes, "We aren't robots, Vessa." "Or maybe I'm just thinking?" Neoni suddenly asks, "I had some thoughts to sort out, and it took a while, okay?" She turns around to face Maina and Vessa, "The name is Neoni, and you are?" She peers at Maina. "And don't shake me, that wouldn't make me happy..." Vessa Harden grins at Neoni, "Goodness, and thus she speaks. Welcome back from your thoughts." she grins then turns to Maina, "I wasn't serious Maina, I know you are no robot." Maina makes a face at Vessa. She steps over to Neoni, bending down to offer a hand, "I'm Maina. I think we're the same sort of person, maybe. Same species or race or whatever." Neoni flutters up to shake the hand, "Hi Maina." She offers a grin, then says, "I was thinking of a good way to get myself a medical laboratory and an operating room. Haven't entirely settled yet, but I think I've eradicated the -poor- choices, at least..." Vessa Harden seems to think a moment, "Well I know that there is a medical tent here but I know my boss is always looking for new enterprises to invest in. Her name is Katrin and she owns that Tavern." she points to the the aforementioned tavern. "I can tell you she is a very good boss." Maina smiles at the handshake, standing up straighter again. "Al could use more doctors, sure, if that's your thing. I'm into medicine, too, but more the genetics side of it. I use a lab over on a station called Comorro." Vessa Harden turns to Maina, "How is Comorro by the way? I have been thinking of going back to that cafe and getting a cup of coffee on my next visit. I was going to check out the Hall labs too and see Dr. Hall's catalog, if for nothing else to see what is offered, maybe get ideas." Maina shrugs a bit, "Same as ever, really." Vessa Harden looks around then back to Maina, "So, any possibility that I can see you in action with your genetic magic with this mobile plant?" Maina smiles a little, "When it's done, sure. I dont' want to accellerate the growth." Vessa Harden nods though looks interested, "Are you doing anything I can watch? I would like to see your work. I don't know anything about genetics but it sounds really interesting to see one of these labs and stuff." Maina gives another little shrug, "Right now, it's just growing. Not much to see, I guess." Vessa Harden considers then nods, "When he is all grown up can I come see? Do you ever need to be all phasey while working? I could see that as being useful." Maina shakes her head, "I hadn't considered being all phasey, no. But you can see, sure." Vessa Harden cheers and does a little happy dance, "Awesome, science fun and adventure." she sings. Maina giggles a little, "You're goofy, sometimes." Vessa Harden pauses her happy dance and cocks her head curiously, "Really? Katrin said I was odd. I don't get it, what is goofy?" she seems honestly curious as she asks this. Vessa Harden shrugs, "Hardly random, it was a dance with purpose. An outward show of excitement and happiness. People don't do that here?" Maina shrugs, "I guess not?" Vessa Harden blinks a bit surprised then shrugs with a grin, "Well, so long as you were entertained then I call it a win." Maina grins a bit back, "Sure." Vessa Harden looks around a bit then shrugs, "I am not sure what to do next to be honest. I could train, or dive but I already did morning training and I don't want to wear out my welcome at the dive shop by continuing to keep running roughshod through there. Any ideas of what sounds fun to you?" Maina shrugs, "Not really, I'm afraid..." Vessa Harden seems to come to a decision, "Well, I have not seen much from across the way, you know where the ferry leads where the starport is. Might be fun to go explore. Want to come with?" Maina shrugs, "Sure thing. Let's go." Massive pylons of a dark green alloy are stacked in neat pyramids at regular intervals along the beach, and drilling has begun to sink them into the bedrock of the lagoon. Piles of dark green scrap metal still abound, however, and are regularly fed into smelters and the alloy poured into molds. Off to one side of all this, it would appear construction has begun on a few buildings, as well as some stable canals that may possibly be for the convenience of shipwrights.

Maina arrives from Eastern Settlement. Maina has arrived. You board the ferry. Pyracan Ferry(#33836TOVWe) This light wood, red and black wrought iron ferry features several upscale cabins for paying customers, each with a fold-out bed, a fold-out table, several chairs, and a mini-bar. For the unpaying masses, there is a general waiting area with carved wood benches, a couple public restrooms and a food vendor. Several digital maps are displayed on each of the interior walls, showing the following destinations.

Maina boards the ferry. Vessa Harden selects the destination. Attendants inform the passengers that they must stay seated as the ferry begins to pick up speed towards Aureus Docks. The ferry reaches its full speed of over 400 mph, and attendees alert the riders that it's safe to move about. A light meal is offered in the common room, showcasing expertly-prepared daichell-fin soup. Aureus Docks emerges into view on the horizon. The ferry has arrived at its destination. The strong smells of fish and salt permeate the wood of the docks themselves, and decayed rope and rusted metal cleats line their edges. It's rumored that this is the best place on all of Pyracan to get illegal drugs or other contraband, though the police do their best to show a strong presence. The docks lead back into Eidhin Borough, while out to sea is Fortress Cove.

The smell of rotten fish seems to have permeated the very buildings of the borough, along with the milder scents of sand and surf. Large, busy buildings process fish boated here from all around Pyracan, on its way to an interstellar market. Gangs seem to thrive here despite constant vigilance by the police, and it is well known that the docks are also the vehicle by which the hallucinogen lios is gathered from around Pyracan and shipped off-world. A few tall skyscrapers seem to find a way to get above the smell and crime, but these are mere islands in the stormy sea. Intricately-carved wood and glass shuttles take passengers up the volcano to the southeast to Old Aureus, up towards the southwest to the Spaceport, up to the southeast towards Siorcton, and north to the public beach.

Originally built in 1622, further enhancements and additions have stuck to the gray stone theme, giving the borough an ageless feel. The entire eastern edge of the borough overlooks a vast circular spring-fed lake, apparently housed in the cone of a dormant volcano. In the very center of the borough looms a tall, square building called Dourragh Place which houses the Pyracani Grand Council, the Alpha, and thousands of government workers. Most of the buildings outside of Dourragh Place have something to do with government, whether actually governmental, one of the dozens of groups petitioning the government for one thing or another, or the hordes of merchants to feed and clothe this multitude, though quite a few are dedicated to the University of Ghirr, the largest university on Pyracan. On the street leading down to Siorcton, a bronze statue of Wurr Dourragh looms angrily over traffic, holding papers in one hand and a tonfa-like weapon called a hotuk in the other. Intricately-carved wood and glass shuttles take passengers down towards the posh borough of Cinneidh, further down towards the docks district of Eidhin, around the north edge of the lake to the business district of Aureus, the borough of Siorcton, or around the southern edge of the lake to the up-and-coming borough of Ibinton.

Overlooking the old, grand architecture and dull industrial grit of Hysinton below and to the northeast, the deep blue of the sea below and to the north, and the indigo waters of Aureus Lake to the south, the skyscraper-dwellers have many interesting views to choose from. Pyracani, Hekayti, Muscipulans and Falari constantly buzz through the streets between large office buildings, pollinating wherever they hover like moneybees. Expensive stores cater to the super-rich, and apartments here go for a king's ransom. Intricately-carved wood and glass shuttles take passengers down the volcano's slope to the northeast towards the old architecture and industrial smoke of Hysinton, down the slope to the northwest towards the beachside borough of Eidhin, around Aureus Lake to the south towards the borough of Ibinton, or around the northern edge of the lake to the looming gray presence of Old Aureus.

The Grand Council hoped that manufacturing and industry would lift the Pyracani out of poverty and recession, and employed hundreds of thousands of their citizens in the loud and smoky factories. Today, poor Hekayti, Falari, and a few displaced Nuall work in the elegantly-designed buildings, and the rest merely serve as warehouses for the docks. The smell of bitter cheese and sulfur wafts about from smokestacks, and low income housing is found in clusters throughout the borough. Near the top of the borough is a huge, sweepingly vertical building with organic lines and a dominating presence; the Cathedral of Martyr Yuta Airt. Built in 1885, the rest of the city has slowly coalesced around its lighthouse-like visage. Intricately-carved wood and glass shuttles take passengers up the volcano's slope to the bustling borough of Siorcton, or over the bridge to the southeast towards Falaritown.

The Pyracani like the profits that machine manufacture can provide, but few seem to want to actually deal with the machines themselves, or be seen working a machine. Pyracani businessmen have begun to bring Falari in in greater numbers to fulfill this role, and Falaritown has cropped up as a result. Thin metal catwalks that zigzag across the borough are the only concession to flightless creatures, as many of the homes and businesses are stacked three or four high to fit within the limited space. Falari ethnic markets and goods merchants ply their trades in common areas, and Falari children are often seen making loops over the borough. He's pushing a bloodied and harrowed looking Raisa into the passenger side with an annoyed expression. For her part, Raisa stares down at her hands. "I didn't kill him," she says quietly. "I broke a couple of his bones and almost ripped off his balls, but I didn't kill him." Vessa Harden is walking with Maina seemingly playing the tourist at least she is until she spots Raina covered in blood. This spurs her on to break into a jog to cover the remaining distance, "Hey, is everything okay? Are you injured?" she sounds rather worried and appears to be checking to see if she can find injuries. Maina spots the blood soon after. Rather than running, she fades out, fading back in right next to the woman. "The hell happened?" She looks from Raisa to Rillitan, then back to Raisa to check for injuries visually. "S'long as there ain't no law comin' for us, Raisa. We ain't exactly in a good way f'r publicity." Rillitan comments as he walks around to the drivers side of the vehicle and looks forward as the two new arrivals query Raisa's safety. "She's alright. Fell over down at t'meat stall in t'market, silly thing, goan 'ave t' get you a new shirt, eh, love?" Raisa glances askew at Rillitan before manages a wan smile toward Vessa and Maina. "Tripped and fell," she mutters. Vessa Harden nods with no noticeable expression beyond concern, "Any of that yours or is it all critter blood you are wearing?" her tone is light and not indicative of if she believes the story given or not. Maina leans back after looking over Raisa, "That's not your blood one way or another. Doubt it's from any meat stall, either. Which stall was it?" She looks back in the market direction. "Gables." Rillitan grunts, giving Maina a hard expression, "You done playin' sniffer, don't suppose it's nice exactly 'avin'strangers gawp at'cha while ye' sit all covered in blood'n'swill, eh? Got a towel in t'pack behind y'Raisa. Next to t'guns an' murderin' tools." He snorts, pulling himself into the jeep. "Thanks, Rill," Raisa murmurs, swiveling to find the towel and wipe her hands on it. Vessa Harden shakes her head at Maina's question and chuckles softly when Rillitan says, "Murderin' tools." but does not comment. "As long as you are okay." nodding to Rillitan she says, "I figure you are wanting to go but before you do, I am Vessa. Lemme know if I can be of help." she seems to have a thought and holds up a hand, "Hold a click." she jogs off and returns shortly with a bottle of water which she hands to Raisa, "Here you go, that stuff is horrible when it dries." Maina gives Vessa a dirty look, looking back to the others, "Look, if someone got hurt, just tell me. Playing doctor is what I do. Maybe I'm butting in where I don't belong, but that's what I do, too. Or, you drive off, and I go straight to the sheriff or police or whatever this place has." "Seriously woman, you got problems. Perhaps you /should/ go to t'police, aye. Mental health ain't sommit t'take lightly." Rillitan grunts, giving Vessa a somewhat sympathetic look before slamming the car door and driving off a little carelessly. Vroom. Raisa takes the bottle of water and busies herself with washing off her hands. Nothing to see over in this corner. Vessa Harden winces at Maina's words and is about to say something to her quietly until Rillitan speaks. She frowns at the slight and again is about to say something before she is once again cut off by him driving away. Definitely not a happy Vessa over here. Finally she turns to Maina, "There is time to go check on to see if someone was injured Maina, if you ask flat out like that then it will only lead to what just happened. Not cool with what he said though. That is just not cool." Maina holds up her hand as the pair start to leave. A PDA fades in, and she takes an image of the pair as they drive off, including the hoverjeepthing. She looks to Vessa, "It could have been much worse for him. He's lucky I don't like hurting people." She does not look like a happy camper. The hovercar rounds a corner and isn't seen again! EVER. Raisa heads into Ibinton Borough. Raisa has left. Rillitan heads into Ibinton Borough. Rillitan has left. Vessa Harden looks surprised, "You would hurt him for the insult? I mean yeah, it was rude and uncalled for and if I see him again I will have words but really?" Vessa Harden shakes her head, "No, I mean." she sighs, "Calm down a second and lets go see if someone is hurt. We don't know that a crime was committed and we don't know that they were making a getaway. Yes he insulted you and that was not acceptable. My question was, were you referring to his luck of not being on the receiving end of violence due to the insult or something else?" Maina frowns, "Due to being a total asshole and likely an accomplice to murder. I could have stopped their car thing, you know that, right? Would have been easy. They'd have been hurt, but they'd be here for police or whatever." Vessa Harden considers this, "Again though, you don't know what happened. Without knowing why she was covered in blood, the donor of which we really should go check on, you can hardly accuse her of murder. As far as we know she could have been saving orphans from a deranged psycho killer, so let’s go find out, shall we?" Maina shrugs, "And how do you suggest we begin, mm? We have no idea where to look." Vessa Harden points in the direction the had been coming from, "Well, violence tends to leave a trail. I am sure if we head in the right direction we will hear the commotion and with that much blood on her, it is bound to have made an impression of some sort." Maina shrugs, "Fine." [Skill System] Maina tests her Husbandry + Hunting at a modifier of 0. The result is 3. Vessa Harden indicates the direction and tries to start following, she doesn't hear anything and after the first little bit doesn't see anything to show which direction to go in. "Uh okay, I have to admit to being lost. Any idea which way they might have come from?"

Maina shrugs, "We can check that meat stall they mentioned, I guess."

"Good thought, er, do you happen to know how to find it? I don't think I have been over this way before." Vessa says as she looks around, obviously lost.

Maina shrugs again, "Head to the market and ask around."

Vessa Harden nods and indicates Maina should lead the way. "Um, yeah I am completely lost here."

Maina shakes her head, "I am, too." She peeks around, wandering towards some markets.

Vessa Harden follows Maina as she heads to some stalls. She looks around and asks some passers by about a Gables meat stall and gets nothing but shaken heads. After a time she calls over to Maina, "Any luck?"

Maina glances back to Vessa, "Nope. Doesn't take a genius to know they lied."

Vessa Harden sighs and shakes her head, "Perhaps, even still I prefer not to jump to conclusions about what might have happened. Until we know the circumstances no judgments should be made." she frowns a bit, "I get the feeling I will see at least one of them again anyway so I can ask then, if I don't read about it in the news first."

Maina raises a brow at Vessa, "What are you, dense? We report it to the police."
