A Talk in the Dark

Summary: Majors becomes a hostage against the DMC. He and his Captor then have a discussion on individuality.

Cast: Majors

Air Date: January 5, 2654

Setting: Tavros

Underground Caves - Tavros - <Tavros>

After a descent down into darkness, it eventually leads to a winding labyrinth of underground caves. All are man made, leading to niches that clearly once were a location of some form of civilization. The further down into the caves one goes, the more intricate the natural and unnatural architecture is. Grand arches and vaulted ceilings mark many of these rooms, some adorned with altars of some sort. Other caves lead to side rooms that look like they could have once been homes for a blossoming family with space to live and interact.

Majors is led down to the underground civilization, hands bound, clothing untouched. He finds himself surrounded by several guards, both men and women, all naked, Amina at the front. "We find you either brave or incredibly foolish to separate yourself from your collective," she muses idly.

Majors follows along and smirks. "I like to think of myself as confident to tell you the truth." The Sivadian replies as she follows along, taking in the sights and sounds. "Hmmm I prefer the term confederation of dunces over collective myself. We are not all so close."

Amina seems thoughtful as she steps along. There is very little light so it might prove difficult for Majors to descend with the same speed that the others do. "Your confederation of dunces will provide the cure, or we will be forced to dispose of you." She sounds almost regretful. Down, down, and even further down the group goes until it flattens out and many of the party disperse into different rooms and caves.

"Hmm that does not seem to be good way of getting what you want but you have to work with what you know." Majors replies as he follows along, trying not to trip over anything. The Sivadian seems to be focusing on how long the walk was, how steep the angle and the number of people at the moment. "Hmm.. I do hope you do not have too terrible a dungeon waiting for me.

"We prepared a space for you," Amina replies. "The residence of one voice gone." She frowns, and then gestures Majors to follow her. "We have no desire to do you harm unless harm is done to us. But we want our cure. We want to see daylight again one day."

"See daylight? That is interesting. You seemed to have perfectly good eyes to me and we were just on the surface." Majors muses as he follows along. "One voice gone? Much like my own if we fail." The Sivadian muses as he follows. "Hmm any chance you will untie me luv? This far down and with so many of your people around I can do much."

Majors is led into a smallish area that has two distinct rooms - one for living and another for sleeping. It's basic but the point is apparent based on the roughly carved furniture provided. "We are safe in darkness," Amina says simply. She hesitates, seemingly deliberating the question before she steps in close enough to unbind his hands.

Majors nods his head and holds still as the woman works on his hands. "What do you have to fear from the light?" The Sivadian asks.

"Pain," Amina replies. Once the hands are free, she skitters back, out of touching range. "Meals will be provided to you twice a day. Once you have been proven trustworthy, we will allow you to move through our village with an escort."

"As long as the escort is as lovely as you." Majors says with a small chuckle. He flexes his hands for a moment before moving to sit down. "Sounds less like a medical problem and perhaps one with the planet."

"It wasn't always so," Amina replies. She frowns. "Back to a time when we were young, we lived in the highest places, closer to heaven and sky. But we were punished for our crimes and now dwell steps from hell."

"Young? You certianlly do not mean yourself, you are still quite young." Majors muses as he closes his eyes, its dark so why bother? "Hmm.. Mind if I ask your crime and who punished you luv?"

"They are secrets not to be answered," Amina replies, shaking her head. "Secrets we may not share with an outsider." She sits in front of Majors, studying him. "You exist separately?" she asks curiously.

"I see." Majors replies as he opens his eyes and glances over at Amina. "Sperately from what? My confederacy of dunces? Quite seperate." The Sivadian nods his head.

"Is it not a lonely existence then?" Amina asks. "To be just one? What draws all of you together if you are not unified?"

"It is not too bad. From time to time you come across one that you connect with for a time." Majors explains as he studies the woman. "I take it you are a hive mind?" He asks with a lifted brow. "We each have our own wants and desires but for the most part we find common goals or ideas that force us to work together."

"We don't understand this word," Amina replies, looking puzzled. "We don't understand the concept. We exist individually but never alone. We are... unified. There is no unrest or division. We are evolved from you."

Majors' eyes goes to the woman's chest for a moment before he nods. "So it would seem you are indeed some sort of human." He replies before shrugs slightly. "And I could not imagine a world where I was linked to my fellows. So we are a both at a loss luv."

"We are human," Amina confirms, sounding uncertain. "Why would we not be human?" She frowns, fingers twitching in a restless habit. "What is it to be alone in your thoughts?"

"I am a modified human myself. Well I am a good many things but best not to get into it." Majors replies as he does keep his eyes on the woman's face for the most part. "If you are at peace with yourself, it is a wonderful peaceful thing, if you are not, it can be a little diffcult at times."

Amina bites on her lower lip. "It seems intriguing, this idea to be alone in your thoughts," she muses. "I have never been alone..." The singular pronoun rolls off of her lips in an awkward fashion, as if unfamiliar to her tongue. It is certainly the first use in her dealings with Majors.

"Hmm.. I can see how that could be a bit.. troublesome." Majors replies thoughtfully. "There is no way for you to simply turn the switch off? Well of course not..." He says as he watches the woman. "Is that something that is causing you distress?"

Amina drops her gaze, shuddering very slightly. "We merely show interest in other sentient life and how it exists," she says. "We are pleased with our existence."

Majors lifts a brow at the shudder from the woman. "Hmmm... well.." The Sivadian falls silent for a long time as he continues to watch the woman. "Tell me of your tattoos luv. Is there a meaning or are they there just to enhance your already considerable beauty?"

"They are of us," Amina replies. "Our story. Our people." She traces the script. "It tells of us. Our people would be marked when they became one of us. Back when we were young and few voices. The story grew though, as the voices grew."

"Hmmm I am sure your story is a long and remarkable one, they leave a very distinct mark upon you." Majors muses as his eyes follow the trail of ink. "Hmmm... so I believe it is your turn is it not? I ask something, you ask something in return?"

"Why come here?" Amina asks. "Were you not content on your world? Our Father would speak of other worlds, but we never had a desire to leave here."

"My world is lost to me. We are not native to this region of space.. We are looking for a home. We are hoping to live here in peace eventually." Majors explains with a small smile.

"This is ours," Amina replies. "Why should we allow those not apart of our collective to settle here?" She frowns. "We will defend what is ours."

"We can help each other perhaps. I am sure we can learn from each other. Look at you and me right now luv." Majors replies with a small smile.

"We will not allow it," Amina replies. "You are our prisoner. If what we want is not provided, we will kill you." She doesn't seem to like the idea of it.

"Hmm.. Perhaps you will change your mind in the future." Majors replies with a small smile. "Or perhaps my confederacy of dunces will live up to their name and fail. In that case I will die once again. Hmm.. would you do me a favor in that case? Do it yourself.. preferably with your bosom in my face as you do it." He chuckles softly.

"We... I... I don't want to kill," Amina says slowly. Her arms cross over her chest, perhaps a sign of modesty. "I find you intriguing." A pause. "We determine you to be dangerous to the unity of the collective."

"Hmm? I am you are interesting as well." Majros says with a smile. "Oh? Too late to cover them up at this point." The Sivadian says with a small chuckle. He then lifts a brow at the last part. "Quite glade that you do not want to... and I have been called dangerous by a good number of people.. but never quite for that reason."

"To be curious is to question our collective," Amina says. "Curiosity has no place here. You threaten the purity of a voice."

"I have threated a woman or two's purity before." Majors says idly as he eyes the woman. "Hmmm... Is there a more joyous people to the south or west?" He asks idly before falling silent. "Sooo.. Should I stop asking now?"

"I want to be my own person," Amina says abruptly. "Can you help me?"

Majors blinks a few times and glances around the room and nods. "I do suppose I can." The Sivadian murmurs softly.

Two others arrive to the small chamber. "We will sever contact for the protection of the unified voice," they say, gesturing for Amina to follow them. With hesitancy, she rises to her feet. "Is it evolution or regression to desire individuality?" she queries softly, crossing to join her companions. Standing next to each other, it is easy to see the similarities in facial markers.

Majors eyes the two newcomers and lets out a small sigh. "I see." He murmurs mostly to himself. "I will see what I can do Miss Amina." He whispers to himself. "Good bye, Thomas Owen Conrad-Majors III," Amina says, turning to leave, an escort at each arm.

"Till we see each other again Miss Amina." Majors replies to the woman with a smile. Once they are out he frowns deeply and shakes his head. "Good job mate, get the pretty bird killed." He sighs to himself softly before he goes to flop into the bed. "Always causing birds problems." He stares at the ceiling.

"Oi... they took my bloody fags.." Majors says after a moment of laying in bed. The man rolls onto his side and stares at the wall for a time. In his mind though? The Sivadian is retracing exactly how many steps he took to get where he is as well trying to recall each person and room he passed by.
