Alopex Firing Range #1

Summary: Shooting targets with the boys

Cast: Mek, Ikin, Ector, Rynnkk Caerrikk, Eelim, Kallyn

Air Date: Saturday 10 September - 2653 AD

Setting: Marine Space <MCV Alopex>

This is a large warehouse-like room covered in black sound-muffling padding, two hundred feet to a side with a slightly domed ceiling due to the hull. Stacked and tied-down on shelves ten high on all four walls are hundreds of large, industrial bins filled with quick-build construction supplies in order to create the vast majority of needed practice scenarios in a few hours. When nothing's built, however, the space is used for general marine training.

Lockers towards the port aft contain a variety of practice weapons and standard-issue but sensor-covered armor. Locked-down controls near the lift entrance allows adjustment for High-G, Standard-G, Low-G and Zero-G situations, and allows for the upload of programs containing holographic threats to be overcome in-scenario or out, and ten feet above is a leaderboard tracking the number, quality and difficulty of hits both by and to the intangible enemies. A large pressurized lift (with two emergency ladder shafts flanking it) sits to the fore of the room, an airlock-style door leads to the skyway, and a ladder leads fifty feet up the aft wall to an emergency airlock.

Kallyn arrives from Corridor B <MCV Alopex>. Kallyn has arrived.

Eelim arrives from Corridor B <MCV Alopex>. Eelim has arrived.

Ector is sitting in a large overstuffed chair eating rough hewn bisket slathered in a honey like substance and drinking a spicey tea that smells almost peppery. He makes a face as he sips the tea then adds more milk to it. He grumbles to no one in particular, "Have a proper tea is like trying to gargle gasoline. And it's hit or miss"

Kallyn slips into the lounge with her face buried in the holodisplay of her PDA, the doctor apparently finishing up some 'paper'work after a long day of dealing with the unlucky and the injury prone. Her free hand untucks her shirt, opens the top button, and loosens her belt as she heads for one of the chairs herself to plop down in.

Eelim idly enters the lounge a few moments later, the tattoed Aukami starting to head towards the flight sims when he spots Kallyn and turns. He catches Ector's comment and replies, "Don't know why you were drinkin' tea in the first place..." His countenance dawns with realization, "Hey, your ol' boy who was hostin' the sausage and mash party, right? Man, that shit was fire."

Ector laughs at Eelim. "That was like moving heaven and earth. This tea thing is like ... *Black MAGIC*! There is perfectly good Earl Grey Tea but it's prohibitively exspensive. The 'Chai' Substitute ... *grates on the nerves* ... know what I mean?"

"You should see if any of the Fastheldians brought some of their tea-making produce along," Kallyn murmurs absently, "Chitterberry tea was marvelous. Shak tea wasn't bad, either."

"Not really, fam, never drank a sip of tea in my damn life. You'd have to put a B'hiri brainbender in it first." He smiles towards Kallyn, raising his chin in greeting, "Ay bay. How was your day?" The shirtless Aukami smirks as Kallyn begins talking about tea too.

You say, "The thing about tea is it's not just the drinking ... it's the ritual. The Taste cannot distract from the ritual ... it's like Bitter Beer."

"You are an odd man," Kallyn muses to Ector, "Tea as a ritual. It's a beverage, just like any other beverage." She offers a smile to Eelum then,

"Hello love. It was all right. You would not believe what I ended up pulling out of one marine's intestinal tract today. Dumbasses and their bets."

"Oh, I gotchu," Eelim nods knowingly, "Now that your talking beer I know exactly what your sayin'." He laughs softly at Kallyn's comment, "Damn..." Another laugh. "Sorry, babe. Your a trooper." He leans in to kiss her lightly on the cheek before saying to Ector, "Why not drink a beer then if the tea's no good?"

Ector eyes Eelim and asks, "I don't suppose you know an Irishman or a Scotsman do you? I don't suppose you do. Tea to a Sivadian is something very very important ... not personally ... culturally. For example ... the Japanese: They take cultural pride in self-discipline. They too have a tea ritual ... but it's more of a spititual matter ... for a Sivadian ... it's like bathing."

Shok arrives from Corridor B <MCV Alopex>. Shok has arrived.

"Oookay then," Kallyn drawls with a smirk. "Stop talking about drinking. Preggo gal here hasn't had a good drink in months."

"Nah I don't know any but yea, I feel you. I do somethin' similiar, where after a long days work i'll get shitfaced off some Henn..." Eelim stops as

Kallyn speaks up. "Sorry, babe." A sheepish grin. The groups over by the Flight sims. • Lift <SW> Skyway Shok has arrived. Eelim has arrived. Kallyn has arrived. Ikin arrives from Aft Lift <MCV Alopex>. Ikin has arrived. Ector leads his small group into the Marine Space. There are a few Sabaid's training here already. Ector BELLOWS in a parade ground voice, "HUP! NOW! GATHER UP! NOAW!!!" He claps his hands and says, "We're starting Small Unit Training. EVERYONE *but* the doc will take a Sabaid. It is my suggestion you use Ranged weapons but ANY weapon you choose is valid ... your entire sabaid will use the same weapon." Shok is already in the marine space waiting with his Sabaid. They seem to be equipped with a strange type of gun. A trained eye would note it as a shock rifle. The magaigh looks as Ector shows up and asks "What took you?" Kallyn parks herself off to the side with her medical satchel, ready to patch up injuries should the need arise. "Kick ass, sweetheart," she tells Eelim. Ikin steps up from the back and grabs himself a pair of weapons (A shock pistol and a shock saber), letting his team do likewise. Doesn't do too much else, though. Ector sidles up and directs his sabaid to take Stun Rifles. Ector bellows, "20 seconds to set up ... then go! Begin count ... MARK!!!! 20 ... 19 ..." Ector races off to the far end of the bay with his suprised sabaid hot on his heels. Ikin doesn't seem to be especially knowledgeable on how to lead a group, he just has them bumble around behind him until he gets to what he thinks is a defensible spot and has them wait while he regroups and attempts to gauge the best course of action. Shok would normally attempt to find cover in a scenario like this but seeing as how there currently is none his first instruction is to move some of the crates lining the walls to make cover. Once this is finished they will be ordered to get ehind said cover with the Magaigh and wait until targets are in sight to fire. You say, "3 ... 2 ... GO!" He commands his squad to turn and target on anything in line of sight. Ikin's squad appears to be the most out in the open so they target his group." Ector and his team line up on Ikin's team with their rifles and set up for long range by going prone. Ikin and one of his teammates take one shot from a stun rifle, but they retaliate. His group by firing back, Ikin by (like something of an idiot), rushing forward while firing his pistol at Ector's team. They're really rather disorganized, and Ikin isn't much of a leader. Shok smirks slightly at Ikin's clearly unorganized force and figures they'll make for an easy target apparently as they are the target of his troops shock rifles. Large arcs of what would look similar to lightning but far smaller head in Ikin's team's direction. Due to the setting of the weapon however a hit would merely incapacitate a person shortly similar to that of a stun gun. Kallyn watches the battle with interest. She very much looks like she wishes she were part of the action. The woman jitters with excited energy, leaning forward where she's seated. As lightning flies between combatants, it also sparks between the Aukami's long fingers. Ector's team fires unsucessfully at Ikin and his team getting grazing hits but doing no real damage ... again. Ikin brings down his shock-saber on Ector's head while his team continues to fire on the prone folks. Ikin probably should have hung back and fired, but who knows what results shall be gleaned from this sort of thing. Shok growls slightly as the fire from his troops fizzles out slightly before hitting Ikin's team. He instructs the team to turn the weapone's power up slightly to compensate for distance before firing again. This time aiming mostly at Ector's team though Ikin in close proximity as he is will take the place of one of his troops in the line of fire. Ector blurts, "SHORTS! *ALL* HERE!" He aims and fires up at the towering bird above him. His team does likewise. Shok notices that his shots don't seem to be doing serious damage but can't immediately think of a way to fix it so keeps on going with the same tactic hoping to get luck. One shot for Ikin and four for Ector. As Ikin doesn't appear to have retreated Ector hollars, "Rotate and flip ... fire at him from your backs!" Ikin actually hits Ector this time. Smack, right on his face! His time fire at him, too, but they all kind of miss! All of them! They're not exactly accurate, apparently. Shok now directs all his attention at Ikin's forces. Apparently the Magaigh is under the impression that Ector's forces have been hit enough for now. Ector blurts, "Up! Remain low! Hit the bird first!" Ikin misses another strike on Ector, as do all of his men. Somebody issue these men white plastic helmets! Shok keeps attempting to make some lightning roasted Falari for the mess hall it seems as Ector's forces are still completely ignored by Shok's troops. Ector growls, "Point blank this NERD BIRD! END IT!" Ikin brings his sword down on Ector, but of course, he misses again. All of his men do too. Really. That's impressive. I guess they don't know how to hit a rolling target. Really. It's starting to get silly. Kallyn is just laughing at this point. Still sparking though. Shok shakes his head slightly at the sheer inaccuracy of the groups and aims three of his soldiers fire at Ikin's team and the other two aim at Ector. Ector bellows, "You unopened bags of EARTHWORMS! If you have to shove your rifle up his ASS to HIT HIM DO SO!" Noticing the fire coming from Shok's group he places Ikin between the fire and himself then fires his rifle up into Ikin's beak. The Marine in his team look confuse and remaining low encircle Ikin. What's this? One of Ikin's men actually HIT something? AMAZING! Two of Ector's men gets smacked with bolts of lightning. That's gotta smart. Everybody's all stupid grins now! Rynnkk Caerrikk has arrived. Rynnkk Caerrikk enters RP mode. Shok focuses his fire once more on Ikin's troops. Apparently he wants both teams crippled before they even think of firing a shot at him. Ector growls, "Since WE can't shoot! Beat him with your rifles! Beat off good!" "No beating off on the battlefield!" Kallyn calls from the sidelines, "We don't need to see that!" Ikin yells at nobody in particular, "Archie, screw with the gravity!" while he swings his blade at Ector again. His troops, somewhat befuddled, continue firing. This is one of those points where it's probably good that Ikin isn't a decent leader, because they'd be wondering which of them is archie otherwise. Shok overhears Ikin's words and doesn't seem to like them one little bit "Focus fire on the bird's team." is the Magaigh's order to his own team. They do exactly as he requests. "Archie, don't you dare help Ikin /cheat/!" Kallyn chirps. As the gravity flickers Ector states, "We can't hit this fat ass bloated bag of feathers right the hell in front of us ... I'll shoot him ... you shoot his team as they float up." Ikin takes three hits and finally goes down. Really, does this surprise anyone? Ikin's team is mumbling about how they got the worst leader out of the bunch, and they're, of course, absolutely right. But then, Ikin ISN'T a leader. Shok smirks ever so slightly as ikin bites the dust. Or air as the case may be with the wonky gravity. Thanks to Ikin's shouted warning about gra vity however Shok and his troops are prepared for it and rain lightning shots on Ector's remaining troops like an April thunderstorm. Ector takes his final two hits and the match is over. Rynnkk Caerrikk has left RP mode. Rynnkk Caerrikk has left. Shok has left RP mode. Shok has left.
