History
The Crimson Scarab didn't always go by this name... for years, it was known as the Black Scarab on Idar Prime. Very little was known about it, and even less was known about its existence for many years. It was thought to be some sort of thieves and assassins guild - operating in secret, when no one was watching. And that was, for the most part, as close to the truth as it got. Those involved were skilled at what they did, but also were found to be in positions that allowed them to help hide the existence of this organization. The Black Scarab had associates in all the major Clans, and this allowed them to operate in secret for more then three hundred years, long before the Idaran people went to space.
With their eventual advance into space, the Black Scarab moved through the Hegemony and expanded their influence, in secret. They influenced the military, the government and the various clans. The group went from a secret group of criminals to a group who influenced how the Hegemony operated. In the years leading up to the popular uprising, the Black Scarab recruited many in the military, including one Xiq'Vuular and the Grand Admiral of the fleet. Vuular was instrumental in bringing down the Quorum of Governors, and the Grand Admiral helped keep the military in line after the fall of the Quorum.
In light of the formation of the Dominion of Self-Aligned Worlds, and the discovery of the trans-dimensional rift, the Black Scarab expanded their operations into the Ancient Expanse and Orion Arm. Agents were recruited on worlds such as Tomin Kora, Sivad, Falar and Irinnar. When the Dominion established the colony world of DC-431, many agents operated out of this base. The influence on the Dominion was less then they had on the former Hegemony, as the Myini were hard to recruit from. However, when the Dominion fell at the Battle of Hekayt Prime, some in the Black Scarab used this as a time to remove the current leadership. Agents of Rear Admiral Xiq'Vuular quickly assassinated the leadership of the Black Scarab, and reformed it as the Crimson Scarab. While the expectation of Vuular's return was never a reality, as it was believed he would be executed by his captors, when they learned of his escape they quickly met up with him, allowing him to disappear.
DC-431 was given a proper name, Athion. The Crimson Scarab instituted a local government, but continued to work behind the scenes. A new leader was appointed, and the Scarab Council was re-formed on Athion and for the first time included many non-Idaran. As their first order of business, the Crimson Scarab located and killed the former Grand Admiral of the Hegemony, dumping his body near Comorro. Their second message was to leave the head of the former Intelligence Chief on Falar.
In recent days, the Crimson Scarab have issued a missive to various groups placing bounties on the heads of a specific list of former Dominion leaders.
At this time, the leader of the Crimson Scarab is unknown - but it is known that the Scarab Council does operate out of Athion. The group operates a large smuggling ring, as well as a network of thieves, spies and other less-than reputable individuals.
