It's a fairly quiet morning in Eriacre. For now, anyway. A few folks are up and about, getting early morning jogs in and the like, but mostly they're still in their homes, waking up to a nice breakfast. So really, the only interesting thing by the fountain, apart from the already pretty darned amazing fountain itself, is a tired looking youngish man who's seated on the edge of the fountain. He's holding a PDA with a bunch of holo-text scrolling down over it. Seated on the ground just beside him is a very alert white tiger.
From the Starport a Idaran male Dressed in black clothing carefully walks into the town's center. He looks around checking the area and poeple that might be walking around. Poeple that have military training would see that he is assessing everything on how dangerous it could be for him, and also any posible escape routes.
The guy on the fountain keeps reading whatever he's reading, while the tiger turns her attention to the new arrival, and a calico kittenferret on the gent's shoulder offers an amicable wave.
Qraco'Xar notices the tiger carefully checking to see how dangerous the creature is. then spots the creature on the shoulder and raises an eyebrow seeing the little creature wave to him. he thinks to himself and carefully waves back to the kittenferret.
After some prodding at his neck from the kittenferret the guy looks up from his reading "What is it, Floriana? You know I need to finish this... Oh, a new arrival. Welcome!"
Qraco'Xar nods to the man and walks closer keeping an eye on the tiger and the kittenferret. "Thank you."
With a well practiced gesture, the holo-text is squashed back into the pda before the pda is put away. "What brings you by our humble settlement? Is it our coffee? I think it's usually the coffee."
Kethren nods with a smile "Well, you could certainly find worse places to explore. Where else can you find a city that was grown?"
Qraco'Xar nods looking around. "This was actually grown? That is something I haven't seen before. it must have taken ages to get to where it is now."
Kethren chuckles "This fountain was the first part I designed. It's been here less than two years."
Qraco'Xar nods and examines the fountain. "I see. That's not to bad. You just finished growing it then? or will it continue to grow?"
Kethren smiles as he reaches up to scratch the calico critter on his shoulder "Finished growing awhile ago."
"A while ago?" Qraco'xar asks a bit surprised. "But that's impossible plants don't grow that fast, do they?"
Kethren grins "Well, a few do. Can't tell you how thrilled I was when we discovered em. While it obviously presented its own problems, it quite neatly got around the trouble of settling this world without harming it."
Qraco'Xar nods "How interesting." he says and examines the fountain a bit closer.
Kethren nods as he reaches down to scratch the tiger's head "Very much so. Been thinking of publishing a guidebook on this sort of thing sometime. Pretty sure there's no precedent."
Qraco'Xar nods a bit. "it could be usefull but I wonder how many planets other then this one will have the ability to suport this kind of ... thing." he says and stands up again.
Kethren shrugs "Probably not many. The life here is... unusual. In the grand scheme of things."
Qraco'Xar nods agreeing and looks to the kittenferret. "Life is indeed different here."
Kethren chuckles "Oh, Floriana? Yeah, she's a native. Found me one day and we've almost never been apart since."
Qraco'Xar carefully examens the kittenferret again. "It doesn't look or act like anything I have seen before."
Kethren smiles "She's oddly similar to some critters back on Earth... but very different. And much smarter."
"Earth?" Qraco'xar asks. "Never heard of that one before. Is it nearby?"
Kethren shrugs "One universe over. Maybe thirty. Who can say, really?"
Qraco'Xar nods. "I see. Sounds like one would need a rift drive equipped ship to get there. Maybe I'll visit it someday."
Kethren nods "It was an easy enough visit before Comorro vanished... but I dunno that it was really my Earth. Even if it was, it's probably something like 5-600 years out of my own time. Why go back?"
"I'd go there because I'm interested in exploring the worlds. I don't care what time the world is at thought." Says Qraco'Xar
Kethren nods "Well, yeah. It's still a place to explore. It's just not my home anymore is all I'm saying."
Qraco'Xar nods "that's understandable." He says and looks around again.
Kethren stretches as he hops off the fountain "Well, it was nice meeting you. I can arrange a tour of the city later on if you like, but right now I've got some work I need to catch up on... too much of it, really."
Qraco'Xar nods. "of course I will not take up anymore of your time. Good day to you sir."
The tiger stretches a bit as she gets back into a walking stance, and the ser offers another wave. "C'mon Nuala. Let's find some fried leghorn. That'll make the work easier."
Qraco'Xar watches the ser and waves back still not sure what to think of it.
