Sadie waits behind a makeshift curtain, breathing quickly as she hears the music play. She grips her bouquet of violet and white flowers tightly, shifting in her white cowboy boots. She looks around nervously, slumping as she realizes her sister is probably not going to come. Xanya is already at the fountain, waiting patiently.
Kethren quietly slips into a seat near the back, not wanting to interrupt anymore'n necessary. As unusual as it is, he's wearing a suit today, and both Floriana and Kail are adorned with suitably tiny top hats. He puts Kail on the seat next to him.
Zu stands towards the back of the crowd, in a tux today, with a violet vest for the occasion and the tux itself being white. Seems he's patiently awaiting his cue.
Alhambra is also sitting in the back in a very clean version of her usual Sheriff's uniform, complete with a bolo tie and a white ribbon around her hat brim. Rikki, as he is, is not dressed up and is in fact lazing on top of the hat. Sadie is waiting behind a curtain as the music begins to play. Xanya is by the fountain. Kethren, Floriana, and Kail are sitting in the back. Zu is towards the back of the crowd, waiting for a cue. Everyone is quite snappily dressed.
Xanya waits patiently for things to start. Seeing the people who have gathers she smiles to everyone. She is wearing a white colored suit style jacket and pants each made to be worn by women. Underneath her pants she is wearing black high heel shoes. Underneath her jacket she is wearing a purple and black corset. Slowly the band starts to play indicating the ceremony starts.
Sadie bites her lip as she nods to Zu with a smile, indicating for him to go head down the aisle. She is wearing a white wedding dress with a peek-a-boo sweetheart neckline bodice adorned with beaded encrusted lace appliques and bright crystals. Layers of organza with finished edges flutter down to her feet in an A-line. Her hair is curled elegantly and put half up. A small tiara with crystal flowers is placed on top of her head. She is holding a bouquet of white and violet flowers.
Naoi is seated beside Alhambra, but when a handsmen places a shoulder and leans over to say something in her ear, she rises to her feet as quiet as she has been through most of the joyful occasion. She's polite enough to join others at the head of the aisle as quietly as she can so not to cause a stir, accepting the unexpected but wonderful responsibility.
Zu nods at Sadie, quietly flapping his way up to the altar, perching just on the edge, so as to be able to hold out the pillow with which he was entrusted at a reasonable height, while giving the new priestess some room to work with.
Alhambra looks around, also frowning, at the absence of Vessa, but there is a considerable sigh of relief when Naoi steps up to take the officiating duties. Rikki is, of course, unfazed.
Xanya smile thankfully when naoi steps up and then waits for everything to begin.
After Zu flies down the aisle and waits, Sadie takes a deep breath. Fionn, her Arctic fox, jumps ahead and begins walking down the aisle before Sadie, a warm gesture. Sadie comes out from behind the curtain and smiles happily, she walks slowly to the rhythm of the music down the aisle. Fionn sits close to Zu, as Sadie finally makes her way to the alter. Her eyes are wet with tears as she smiles brightly at Xanya.
Kethren manages to more or less stop fidgeting and pay attention to the proceedings. He smiles a bit, but Kaild and Floriana look to be having a better time. But that may just be the tiny top hats.
"Please bare with me, it has been some time since I have presided over a ceremony." Naoi says to the crowd gathered for the event, "You may all sit." She waits for those that were standing to get a good look at the pair as they made their way to the aisle have settled in, and she takes a shallow breath. "It is traditional, in the Church, to meet with the engaged several times prior to the ceremony to prepare the two for their lives together, to ensure a healthy relationship for as long as they may live."
"For these two, I feel that it is better to just observe. With one glance, I feel that their union will be blessed with happiness. Even in trials of fire and tragedy, as long as they know they have the other, they will prosper in this strange land." She does glance to the intelligent wild life all around them, some of which sit at the very feet of the soon-to-be-married, in laps, or in individual's hats. She turns to Xanya, "Xanya, Master Builder, will you swear before the Light and your wife, to honor and cherish her through triumph and sickness? Will you stand upon this earth, now, and take up loving contract with this woman, Sadie Harden, until your body rests beneath this hallowed soil?"
Zu gives a smile to Sadie as she walks up the aisle, whispering to her, the smile about as warm as one will ever see upon the Tupai's face, "Don't you dare cry, Sadie. I might actually have to try not to tear up if you do." It's also the warmest tone he's ever been heard to use, for most people, anyway.
Alhambra surreptitiously checks her sleeve. Yep. There's a perfectly good kerchief in there. She clears her throat, somewhat manfully.
Xanya watches sadie walk up to the isle and smiles brightly to her. when sadie is next to her she listens to naoi's words. and when the question falls she awsners without thinking. "yes I do."
Sadie giggles softly at Zu's words, wiping her eyes quickly. "No promises!" She says quietly back to him before Naoi begins. She keeps her eyes on Xanya as she places her hands in Xanya's and smiles, hearing Xanya's answer to Naoi.
"Sadie, will you swear before the Light and your future wife to honor and cherish her through triumph and sickness? Will you stand upon this earth, now, and take up loving contract with this woman for as long as you both may live?" Naoi's own eyes are dry, but her habitual staring gives a strange intensity to her.
Zu stands, listening at this ceremony, giving a smile to Xan as well after Sadie has replied to him. The Tupai's eyes remain quite dry for the moment, however, seems he is still perfectly well under control of himself in that regard.
Alhambra clears her throat again, and sniffs, quietly. Rikki opens one eye and peers down at her. "Shup," she whispers.
Xanya smiles brightly to sadie and takes her hand as well. she looks back to sadie awaiting her awnser.
Sadie beams as she looks to Xanya as Naoi speaks to her. She nods her head at the question before answering, "Yes! Of course I do!" Beaming, she keeps her eyes on Xanya as she speaks, nodding quickly.
"You may exchange the rings and any personal oaths you might have," Naoi says, waiting for the two to do exactly that. Once they seem finished, she'll smile, a gesture that does not quite reach her eyes. "You are now bound in loving matrimony, a union blessed by peers and the Light. You may kiss the bride."
Zu extends the pillow on which the rings of the pair are set, smiling at each in turn once more as they take their respective rings, still not very teary eyed, though. Perhaps he said he might tear up more as a sentiment than anything.
Xanya gets the ring and puts it on sadie's finger. She then waits for sadie to do the same and when both are done she would kiss sadie lovingly.
Sadie takes the ring for Xanya and places it on her finger. She closes her eyes as she is kissed, grinning happily.
Naoi joins in the round of applause, bringing her hands together. Some rather inebriated fellow lets out an ooorah near the back.
Alhambra stands up and starts clapping thunderously. Rikki joins in by drumming his forepaws on her hat, thumpthumpthumpthump.
Zu lowers the pillow he was entrusted with, uttering to the pair a simple "Congratulations, Xan, Sadie." His hands aren't quite made for clapping so he'll await it to subside, "Now, then? Let's get to that after-party, shall we?"
Xanya smiles at the clapping and then nods to zu. and finaly loosk to sadie. "sounds good to me. what do you think my love?"
Sadie grins as she looks out into the crowd and nods to Xanya. "Let's go, my wifey!" She giggles happily as she squeezes Xanya's hand.
Naoi steps aside, presumably to get lost in the crowd before the after-party gets wild.
Alhambra remains standing, and starts shouldering her way through the crowd to get to the happy couple. "Hugs!" she bellows.
Zu doesn't look like he's about to not get in on the hugs, as he flaps up to perch on the shoulder of Sadie that is farthest from Xanya, indicated Al to take the other side of Xanya, for the group hug that has commenced, a pair of bat wings going around Sadie's head.
Xanya gladly accepts all the congrats and hugs those that want to get hugged.
Sadie grins at the hugs from Alhambra. After the hugs, she waves to everyone. "Come on, y'all! Let's go get us a drink!"
