Overview

A bloody war stretching over four million years, originally between the Kamir and their uplifted servants, the Hivers. Their indiscriminate clashes (and later, the Hivers' frustration) eventually brought the Thul, B'hiri, Lyiri, Falari, Hekayti, and Pyracani into the conflict, both to prevent the death and destruction that regularly intruded into their spheres of influence, and to stop the possession of their peoples to serve as puppet warriors.

Timeline

  • 4,000,000 BCE - The Il'Ri'Kamm Hive Mind achieves full sentience, revolts against the Kamir and begins systematically exterminating their masters. Twelve of the most powerful Kamir develop a machine (with help from the B'hiri) that allows them to escape to another dimension at the expense of their corporeal bodies. Eleven escape while Opodi Talhem stays behind, slaying Il’ri Kamm as he comes to kill the twelve. She is swept up in the resulting spacial/temporal flux, and is reduced to a tendril of consciousness. The Hivers and B'hiri clash briefly before the B'hiri drive the Hivers off.
  • 4,000,000 BCE - ~1800 CE - The Hivers search countless dimensions for the Kamir, initially staying mostly clear of Hiverspace denizens, but over time, begin to take their frustrations out on Hiverspace, especially the psionic races such as B'hiri, Aukami and Lyiri.
  • 1843 CE - The B'hiri Dowelaritch and Opodian Taya Opo’te successfully reform Opodi Talhem aboard Comorro, tasking her with the total destruction of the Hivers.
  • 1895 CE - Battle of Kovess Plain on Kamsho. Dowelaritch dies in the conflict.
  • 1923 CE - Azavatitch, child of Dowelaritch, leads a bloody B'hiri assault on Elakamia under Opodi Talhem's direction. Their forces steal the Hivers' four psionic amplification stones. They hide three of the stones in the Ancient Expanse, while Talhem translates to a world in another dimension to hide the fourth before dying. This ends up being just off the Korean coast on Earth.
  • 2311 CE - A Hekayti medical frigate known as the Father's Horn is caught in the crossfire between Hiver-controlled mercenaries and a B'hiri relief caravan at the Plosa Nebula, causing the Hekayti to join the Hiver War.
  • 2338 CE - Hiver-possessed Einkap Astr Angbarskfruktledelkrig, with her battleship pointed at Hekayt Prime and weaponry primed, manages to resist the Hiver's influence long enough to grab a subordinate's pistol and end her own life, saving millions.
  • 2346 CE - A Hiver bomb explodes in the newly-built Aureus Spaceport on Pyracan, destroying the spaceport and killing over a thousand.
  • 2347 CE - Late in the year, Pyracan formally declares war on the Hivers, despite owning only three small, armed FTL-capable ships.
  • 2494 CE - The Horgr Experiment -Residents of the Hekayti colony world of Horgr are informed that their leaders have been kidnapped by the Hivers, and that a bomb has been placed near their planet's core. Over 100,000 able-bodied males sign up to fight for the Hivers for the period of a year in exchange for the removal of the bomb and return of their leaders.
  • 2495 CE - Buoyed off of the success of the Horgr Experiment, the Hivers take strategic hostages on twelve other fringe or pioneer worlds, sending wave after wave of properly-motivated conscripted fighters against their enemies. These blackmailed mercenaries are eventually called the Hiver-coerced.
  • 2597 CE – Hivers begin grabbing humans as proxy fighters to serve on their ships against the B'hiri.
  • 2640 CE - Battle of Pikthivikich's Comet - Hiver-coerced Hekayti hide dozens of ships within Pikthivikich's Comet in the Arack System, allowing them to get less than three AU from B'hira without detection. B'hiri forces are forced to scramble to block the small armada and destroy it.
  • 2642 CE - Zaluan Liberation - The slave colony of Zaluan is liberated by a mix of Hekayti, Falari and Pyracani forces, freeing over fifty thousand sentients.
  • 2643 CE - The Whetstones - Hiver-coerced Hekayti and Pyracani
  • 2646 CE - Battle of Juval Cluster - In the Juval Cluster, in the galactic eastern end of Hekayti territory, a Pyracani picket ship discovers a Thul shipyard with almost two dozen active warships. Seven Pyracan frigates hold off the fleet for three days with guerilla tactics until Hekayti and Lyiri forces are able to arrive.
  • 2648 CE - Battle of Glornish Station - Hekayti forces blockade a Thul supply depot just galactic west of the Cyon system for over a month with no visible effect, until it is determined that teleportation rods are being used to run the blockade. Pyracan fighters are used to distract Glornish Station's mission control while Pyracani marines storm the station. Unfortunately, it appears that the Thul also teleported in a large number of mercenaries, and the Pyracani suffer heavy casualties before taking the station.
  • 2649 CE - Battle of Blue Sands - At the galactic northwest edge of the Daucon Corridor in an asteroid field called Blue Sands, Pyracan forces engage the Hiver-controlled Pyracan destroyer MCV Huaina. When the destroyer MCV Likos' reactor is breached, Captain Roor Morrdha makes the fateful decision to ram it into the Huaina in order to recover the souls of the Hiver-possessed Pyracani within for the Supreme One. All hands aboard both destroyers are incinerated in the resulting blast.
  • 2650 CE – The Hiver War ends when a group of Normalspace refugees and B'hiri take over the Hiver vessel Harrower and destroy the Hive Core on Sagittarius with a psionic bomb.
